Electricity Power Supply Cabling Underground Installation for Vitacress in Andover

Ducting Electrical Cabling Underneath Water Culverts

Challenge

A consultant who knows us from working at Greggs in Newcastle contacted us regarding Vitacress farm. They were extending the processing and packaging facility and required a new 33kv cable to be installed to increase the electricity power supply.

Drilling

A culvert is a pipe which allows stream to flow through below ground.  Culverts ran through the area between the source of the electricity supply and the building about 250 metres away, so we had to put the duct for the electricity below these.

Did you know that healthy green watercress thrives in clean flowing water?  Or that fresh food growers Vitacress grow herbs, rocket and spinach as well as watercress?

Planning: Our surveyor had been to Andover to look at route options for underground installation, assessing depth and distance required.  He would also look at ground conditions as there are different drill heads accordingly.  Utility plans and radar scans were ordered to reveal what else lies beneath and what depth clearance we would need.

Installation: The weather was kind to us and with everyone one site obeying Covic-19 safety guidelines it was calm and cooperative, the job was completed in 5 days.  Leaving a draw cord for the electricity board to pull their cabling though and enabling Vitacress to continually produce the freshest herbs and salads this side of heaven.  Watercress is a powerhouse of nutrients! We remain operational through Coronavirus crises as support suppliers to food production and other key industries.
